2011: In Hindsight

Another year has come and gone and along with it: people, places, bands, memories, laughs, tears, “oh-shits” and I think you get the picture. For Still Proud, 2011 certainly panned out to be the biggest year of this project yet! I had 3 seasonal drops (In Self We Trust, The Path Least Traveled and Dissent) with a total of 12 tees and tanks, 4 hoodies, 2 longsleeves, our first snapback, crewneck and womens drop. I was able to get SP stocked into 3 stores locally and  even ventured all the way to the city of sin to scope out the Magic (my first) tradeshow, where I met a lot of brands I admire and more importantly got to see what this whole streetwear scene’s all about. I also expanded our sponsorship roster and added 3 more artists to our growing army (King Conquer-FL, Uplift-Canada, and 8 Control-France). On the promotion front I dropped our first sticker campaign which if you peep the post, got our stickers slapped to the 4 corners of planet earth with many pictures to come in thereafter. On the social network side, I dropped a Tumblr page and Instagram (@ stillproud) account, be sure to follow those if you haven’t already.

With all of this considered, i think I did a pretty damn good job for running all of this by myself! It’s not to say that I didn’t make some mistakes or wish certain aspects were much better, but I’m certainly content with how the year closed. After all, this is truly a learning experience. The main thing that I’m proud to have accomplished in 2011 lies in a solidifying of the overall message of this brand to where I’ve always wanted it to be. If you look at where I started, there’s no way you can overlook the fact that progression has played it’s part. From the maturing of the message to the transparency and behind the scenes nature of the blog, everything was upped.

This is my blood and sweat but it’s also yours too, and I truly hope you realize that. This is not just a clothing company to me, it’s really a way of life. We are a mvmt (movement) of discontent individuals who will not settle for less than what we rightfully deserve and we could give a **** less what conventional society has to say about it. Believe me, this is not me spitting a bullshit message to sell you on something bc this is what I live and strive for EVERY, WAKING, DAY. So with the first steps already having been tread into 2012, prepare for another roller coaster ride as I reach higher and higher to outdo the last year. I want to step everything up and I won’t settle for less much as I expect of you. Before I conclude, I seriously want to thank you ALL for an excellent year of support. From the Og’s who’ve been with me from day 1, to our new customers coming on board, without you, this does not exist!  The first product release of 2012 will be of our second snapback (dropping early next week) and atm our Spring line’s getting designed. Get pumped on a new year and look out for some heat coming from your favorite line in 2012, believe it! Don’t forget to take advantage of FREE SHIPPING in the U.S with “thisyearismine” or 10% off for Intl. peeps at checkout. This sale ends Sunday so grab all of the latest Winter gear and STAY WARM!

In closing, check out this little yearly report that WordPress puts out on our stats as it’s pretty interesting stuff. If you recall last year I said I wanted to double our traffic from 20k a year to 40, well, I did it:

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 43,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 16 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

To prosperity in 2012, may you claim it!
