Artist: King Conquer

Hometown: Naples, FL

Releases: America’s Most Haunted (2010), Decomposing Normality (2009) and Welcome to Hell (2008)

Label: Mediaskare

Follow Them On: Facebook, Twitter, Myspace

Other than a wealthy retirement city, Naples FL is not really known for much. Lurking beneath the surface though is one of the fiercest metal core bands the world is about to get decked with. Having spent the last few years crafting their unrellenting sound and touring the greater US, King Conquer recently released their first full length titled “America’s Most Haunted” on Mediaskare records. Pummeling double bass and breakneck speed brutality gives way to crushing breakdowns and deafening vocals littered with social commentary not for the sheepish of hearts. Having known the band for years I can vouch for these guys dedication to their craft. Be sure to catch them on the road and PICK UP “America’s Most Haunted.”

Artist: Uplift

Hometown: Toronto, Canada

Releases: Making the Most (2010)

Label: N/A

Follow Them On: Facebook, Twitter, Myspace

In a scene drenched in negativity and self loathing comes a breath of fresh Canadian air by the name of Uplift. This powerhouse of melodic hardcore makes no qualms about its positive message and are one of the up and coming forerunners carrying the Canadian hardcore flag. The boys bring a flavor akin to bands like With Honor and Comeback Kid which is the type of sound I truly miss!  With plans to tour most of 2011 and release more material in their downtime, you best believe that this is one band you will be hearing more about in the very near future!

Hometown: Lexington, KY

Releases: DI/ Unrestrained split (2009) and Vultures EP (2010)

Label: N/A

Follow Them On: Myspace, Facebook and Twitter

Lexington, KY may be synonymous  with the American Revolutionary War but it’s also the stomping grounds of a promising hardcore band. This band is Dead Icons, and if touring the country for the better half of a year with  two self funded releases is any indication of the future, then consider it theirs. Their sound can best be summed up as an aggressive short but sweet burst of hardcore punk intertwined with a new school tinge (bringing to mind the likes of This Is Hell and Comeback Kid). The boys are about to rage through another solid year of touring through the US/ Canada while also working on their next release so keep a definite eye out for some promising things to come!

Artist: Providence

Founded: 2005

Hometown: Paris, France

Releases: Far Beyond Our Depth

Label: Rucktion

Follow Them On: Myspace, Facebook and Twitter

Love and endless romance are two expressions one thinks of when the name Paris comes to mind. Little do they know that in the underbelly of this facade is a force of brutality that’s about to put this city on the map of the hardcore world! One listen to Providence and you get it, which is what I love about this band. There are no frills, just straight up heavy as hell hardcore with a disdain for modern culture and a fighting spirit. Themes of social/ political commentary are spit between crushing low end guitars and enough mosh to keep the show looking like the battle scene from Brave heart. Formed in 2005 and having built a solid foundation in Europe, the boys have set their eyes across seas and are about to embark on their second US tour with Through This Defiance. With a recently released full-length and a split with Chicago’s King Of Clubz coming soon, don’t sleep on these jams, they will tear you apart!

With one release out and dozens and dozens of tours under their belt, if one thing is certain, it’s that these fellas are coming for the crown and deserve every ounce of praise and respect that’s been given. The European hardcore scene is seeing an explosion of talented artists these days. One of these diamonds in the rough is the UK’s own Pay No Respect. Their name sums up their sound quite well, unrelenting and to the point. With a devastating sound akin to bands like Seventh Star and First Blood, this surprisingly unsigned band already has the foundations to do something big. With a couple of tours already under their belt and an approaching release of their next self recorded album “Moving On” in progress, don’t hesitate to check these guys out if your looking for mosh heavy hardcore and an energetic live presence.

Artist: The Legacy

Founded: 2002

Hometown: Sheffield, United Kingdom

Releases: We Gave it Everything (2005), Solitude (2007), Beyond Hurt, Beyond Hell (2009)

Label: Visible Noise

Follow Them On: Myspace

Emotion, honesty and some goddamn epic jams is what explains these UK troopers. Since 2002, the Legacy has been causing a stir with their infectious blend of melodic hardcore akin to bands like Killing the Dream, Comeback Kid, the Carrier, This is Hell but even those name drops do not do them justice. Not your typical moshy hardcore, this is the type of stuff that abounds to massive sing alongs and pioneering in the genre. Having toured the UK relentlessly and just released their latest offering “Beyond Hurt, Beyond Hell,” you can damn well keep an eye out for these guys to do big things in the not so distant future.
